The Vampire Diaries is saying goodbye after next season, and the cast was at San Diego Comic-Con to tease what’s coming in the final episodes and talk about how they want to see it end for their characters. Is a happy ending possible for any of them?

The Vampire Diaries Interview: Kat Graham on Searching for Damon and Enzo, Bonnie Without Magic and More>>>

Watch the video interview with Matt Davis and Zach Roerig:

Here are the highlights:

  • They both agree that it’s nice to know that the series is ending, with Davis adding that it gives a new sense of awareness and appreciation for what they’re doing and an end goal.
  • Alaric has taken over the Armory and has a new nanny watching over the girls.
  • Matt has left town, and when he comes back, it enriches his character in a way he’s never been. He’s the only human on the show, but you’ll learn that the Donovan family history is kind of supernatural and crazy.
  • Both Davis and Roerig agree that TVD needs at least one happy ending.
  • Davis hopes there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for his character romance-wise, “otherwise he’ll be one of the most tragic characters in TV history,” but added that you never know because the show can be very cruel at times.
  • You’ll see a lot of people coming back in season 8.

Watch the video interview with Paul Wesley and Candice King:

Here are the highlights:

  • King thinks it would take Caroline three seasons to plan her wedding.
  • They’re looking for Damon and Enzo.
  • Wesley knows that Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec have ideas about the show’s end. He wants Stefan and Damon to walk into the sunrise without their rings on. “That’s dark,” King pointed out, with Wesley replying, “No, it’s light, actually, because the sun’s rising.”

The Vampire Diaries season 8 premieres Friday, October 21 at 8pm on the CW.

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
