On May 18, Jillian Harris will get her shot at love as ABC kicks off the two-hour special premiere of The Bachelorette season 5 beginning at 9pm. But that’s all for show. At this very moment, the 29-year-old restaurant interior designer may have already met her ideal match as she currently films the reality dating series in which she chooses from among a group of the country’s most eligible bachelors.

Harris, an instant fan favorite from the most recent edition of The Bachelor, tried to capture the heart of single dad Jason Mesnick. In the end, however, Jason still questioned whether their chemistry would last over time and sent her home. Four weeks after the controversial After the Final Rose episode, in which Jason Mesnick brutally dumped winner Melissa Rycroft for runner-up Molly Malaney, the filming of The Bachelorette began with Harris as the new season’s love searcher.

The Bachelorette is reportedly more than halfway through filming and the Canadian beauty isn’t taking the competition lightly. But Harris’ mother reveals that Jillian is being cautious.

“It was a first, what happened with Jason, and I think it will make her more aware,” Harris’ mother, Peggy, told The Post from her home in Alberta. “What she learned was to be really careful when choosing. It will put more pressure on her.”

As for Mesnick’s change of heart, Harris’ relatives are now at peace with the fact that Jillian and Jason were simply not meant to be.

“We were relieved because that could have potentially been Jillian getting dumped,” a relative said. “We wondered, ‘Is this for real? Could he change his mind like that?’ “

Following the premiere of The Bachelorette, fans can catch Jillian Harris on the show’s regular time period every Monday at 8pm beginning May 25.
