Last Wednesday, BuddyTV got the opportunity to head down to Los Angeles and attend the premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood.  This was our first big premiere and, well, it has to be said that it was pretty damn cool.  The night started with a short bus ride to outside the Arclight, where we bloggers shared a ride with a dozen or so Terminator poster contest winners.  These were the Terminator super fans, making us a little guilty for our casual Terminator fandom.  We got a nice view of the red carpet, but it wasn’t all that star-studded.  FOX wanted to keep the night all about Terminator, so there weren’t any other FOX personalities around.

Your Take

Next, the lobby called.  Free popcorn and beverages were plentiful, as was the people watching.  The most interesting couple of the night was, by far, Beverly Hills 90210’s Brian Austin Green (he’s going to be on Terminator starting in episode four) who was in attendance with his girlfriend Megan Fox.  Yes, that Megan Fox, the hot girl from Transformers.  Good work, Brian.  And, yes the age difference is large – Green is 34, Fox is 21.  But, I’m not going to judge.  Everyone wins here.  Fox probably had Green’s poster in her room growing up.  They appeared to indulge in an inordinate amount of popcorn.

The screening of Terminator inside the theater was interesting.  Show runner Josh Friedman was in attendance, but he didn’t seem to want to be too involved with the event.  He didn’t make an appearance at the after party, due to his support of the WGA.  The Arclight is a pretty incredible theater, huge screen, though the theater was only about half full.  We reviewed the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles pilot episode yesterday, .

After the screening, the audience was ushered up to the top floor of the Arclight’s parking lot, where a massive tent had been erected for the party.  A dance floor, three bars and a huge spread of food.  Can’t argue with that.  A legion of attractive ladies trolled the party, handing out vodka shots in neon green vials.  We’d be lying if we said we didn’t partake in said vials.  Perhaps too many.  On a personal note, it must be said that being at a party like this with open bars is a bit confusing.  You really don’t know what to do with yourself.

Terminator stars Lena Headey, Summer Glau, Thomas Dekker and Richard T. Jones were all in attendance.  Headey, Glau and Jones mostly kept to themselves (though, as you can see from the picture above, we snapped a very silly picture with Summer – that facial expression is clearly vial-induced).  Thomas Dekker, on the other hand, lived it up.  He was the first one on the dance floor and, for about 90 minutes, he and his girlfriend danced with the energy of two high school dance prodigies jacked up on Mountain Dew.  It was a spectacle, but a funny one.

We also got to speak with Rob Hall, the Terminator make-up genius, and Lucy Davis (who you may know from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip of the original British Office).  Overall, a very enjoyable night and a great production from the crew at FOX.  Everyone had a good time and it was a nice way to kick off what may be a long-running and successful new series from FOX.
