After introducing Cupid and Famine, Supernatural will be introducing yet another mythical being. Baldur, also known as the God of Light, will be gracing the fifth season, and according to Digital Spy, actor Adam Croasdell has been cast to play the role.

“It’s fantastic being a part of such a popular show and exciting to be in the American arena. I’m looking forward to the challenge,” the Zimbabwe-born British actor tells Digital Spy of his Supernatural debut.

Croasdell, 29, is perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Al Jenkins on EastEnders. He has played various characters in Smack the Pony and is credited for portraying Sebastian Montgomery on The Chase. He has also appeared in Holby City, Peak Practice, London’s Burning, Agatha Christie’s Cat Among the Pigeons, Ultimate Force, and The Prince and Me 3: Royal Honeymoon.

In Norse mythology, Baldur is the son of Odin and Frigg, and is associated with light because he’s so bright (intelligent) that light shined from him. Also associated with beauty, love and happiness, he is loved by both gods and men and is considered to be the best of the gods. At this point, though, it’s not clear how Baldur will be introduced on Supernatural or what role he will play in the Winchesters’ fight against the Apocalypse.
