Over the weekend, former child star Brian Bonsall was taken into custody in Colorado for getting involved in a bar brawl.  If his name isn’t all that familiar, maybe mentioning Family Ties will ring a bell.  Known as the kid who played little Andy Keaton on the show, this actor later became semi-famous for playing Worf’s son on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Anyway, Colorado Daily reports that the 28-year-old is currently facing third-degree assault charges for hitting his friend in the face with a bar stool.  It’s not just that, he’s actually been wanted by the cops for years.  Brian Bonsall has already skipped a court hearing in July 2008, further damaging his case.

Apparently, the actor has had several troubling occasions with the authorities.  He’s had an arrest for drunk driving in 2004, another one for assaulting his girlfriend in 2007 and another account of failure to appear in court for the latter.

In this recent case, the police decided to wait for Bonsall at the house of his “best friend” 1121 11th St. in Boulder.  The actor was then arrested for hitting Michael Trujillo, a pal of the actor’s, in the face.

The victim related the story, saying he’d been arguing with Brian Bonsall at the time and asked the guest to leave.  However, the Star Trek star refused and started to attack Trujillo with the stool.  Alcohol appeared to be involved since the actor admitted to forgetting what had happened.

The report went on to reveal: “Bonsall then said that he and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs.  Bonsall said that he takes a lot of drugs and sometimes those drugs make him forget things.”

As of now, the actor is being held at Boulder County Jail on two bonds amounting at $7,500.  From Family Ties to this, it really has been quite a difficult road for Brian Bonsall.
