After Will Wingfield’s surprising elimination last week on So You Think You Can Dance, it’s hard to say what America is thinking.  As many fans have said, this isn’t about finding America’s best dancer – it’s about finding America’s favorite dancer.  Technique won’t win you this thing.  You need to have the right personality, the right routines, the right partner, and perhaps most importantly, the right editing.  I’d love to base this week’s rankings on my own personal taste but I think America is starting to make it loud and clear who they want to see in the finale and who they want to see dance for their lives.  Perhaps it doesn’t matter anymore what these top 6 do if America’s mind is already made up.  Read on, check out the rankings, and see what you think!

Twitch Boss

If you had asked me a few weeks ago about Twitch, I would have said that he was a frontrunner to win this whole thing.  Yet, something happened midseason.  He and partner Kherington Payne started to unravel.  She went home several weeks ago and he has found himself in the bottom a few times since then.  I thought it would be a walk in the park for him to go final four but it seems he’ll have to work his butt off this week to get there.

Courtney Galiano

I ranked Courtney first in the pre-season rankings but that was before I saw what Katee Shean could really do.  Unfortunately, with two contemporary dancers together this late in the game, it’s easy to draw comparisons.  Katee has had better routines, better partners, better chemistry, and better feedback from the judges.  I’m still a Courtney fan at heart but considering how often she’s landed in the bottom, it seems that this is her last week with the show.

Mark Kanemura

It seems we understimated Mark’s fan base, since he was safe last week while Twitch and Will were not. Mark certainly has been a standout performer all season, getting into his characters, and bringing a unique style unmatched by any other contestant this season. Where as, at times the show can feel slightly monotonous, Mark always changes things up and is a breath of fresh air each time he takes the stage.

Chelsie Hightower

If I had it my way, Courtney Galiano would be top 4 but America seems to disagree. Chelsie has been inching her way ahead of Courtney for some weeks now. Saying that I like Courtney better doesn’t take anything away from Chelsie. She has been pretty spectacular this season but sometimes, lacks the wow factor that I, as a viewer, am looking for. It’s a little hot and cold for me but wherever Chelsie places this season, it is certainly well deserved.

Josh Allen

I would not have originally thought that Josh would make it farther than Twitch. However, Twitch has found himself dancing for his life on several occasions while Josh has sat pretty and comfortably all season. Josh certainly defied the odds, having struggled in Vegas, only to one of this season’s top dancers. He excels in almost any style and he has a humble, yet fun, personality that America seems to relate to.

Katee Sheen

Well, I think Nigel said it best. He has not disliked one of Katee’s performances all season. If a female is going to win this season, it’s going to be Katee. She has had several memorable performances and she has never landed in the bottom. It’s clear that America has gotten behind her and if she doesn’t win, she’ll at least be the last female dancer standing.
