With season 2 of Smash premiering next week with a new showrunner, new cast members and a huge guest star in Jennifer Hudson, NBC is ramping up the promo machine by releasing five video clips from the two-hour opener, "On Broadway/The Fallout."

Smash is available on Amazon Prime.

According to NBC, "Back from a successful run in Boston, Eileen, Julia and Tom are blindsided by both personal and professional obstacles as they seek to take Bombshell to Broadway. Karen consults her new mentor, Broadway star Veronica 'Ronnie' Moore (guest star Jennifer Hudson), as she finds herself on the brink of fame, but her success may come at cost to Ivy. A new talent (Jeremy Jordan) is discovered in an unexpected place. Meanwhile, Derek copes with a damaging accusation."

In this first clip, Karen (Katharine McPhee) comes across Jeremy Jordan's character, Jimmy, performing an original song at the piano and calls up Derek to tell him about this talented discovery.

Jimmy accuses his songwriting partner, Kyle, played by Andy Mientus, of lending one of their songs to Karen. This causes tension as the three argue over the issue, and Karen tries to explain that she thinks he's extremely talented and wants to help. "Stay out of this, princess," Jimmy says to her. Ouch.

All the promos and trailers for the past several weeks have had a big focus on Jennifer Hudson's character, Veronica "Ronnie" Moore. With Karen about to make it big on Broadway in the role of Marilyn Monroe, Ronnie gives out some advice from someone who's been in her footsteps. The clip ends with the usual tagline from J-Hud, "Get ready. This is gonna be you in six months."

Speaking of the Oscar winner, Karen and Derek go see a Broadway show that Ronnie's performing in. Here she is with "Mama Knows Best." Jennifer sure knows how to belt it out.

Finally, we haven't forgotten about Ivy (Megan Hilty), who performs "They Just Keep Moving the Line." The talent on this show is beyond exceptional. I wonder where she's singing this at. Julia and Tom are at the piano on stage, and the people in the audience are all sitting around tables eating and drinking.

Smash season 2 premieres Tuesday, February 5, at 9pm on NBC.
