Amy Poehler charmed movie fans by playing a surrogate mother in the comedy flick
Baby Mama, and now she's about to be one herself. The
Saturday Night Live star is reportedly expecting her first child with husband,
Will Arnett, who is known for his role as George Oscar "G.O.B." Bluth II on the FOX sitcom
Arrested Development.
The couple's rep, Lewis Kay, has confirmed the baby news to
People, though Kay has declined to give further details about the
Saturday Night Live actress' pregnancy, except for the fact that the baby is due in late fall.
Poehler and Arnett started dating in 2000 and eventually got married three years later. Though each had their distinct TV gigs, they managed to work together in several projects. Poehler appeared in four episodes of
Arrested Development in 2004 and 2005 where she played a woman whom Arnett's character marries during a drunken night of increasingly outrageous dares. Arnett and Poehler also starred alongside each other in the films such as
Blades of Glory and
Horton Hears a Who!, and will star together in upcoming movies like
On Broadway, Spring Breakdown, and
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
This has been a big week for Poehler. Aside from her much-awaited pregnancy, Poehler's latest movie,
Baby Mama, has opened number 1 at U.S. and Canadian offices, taking more than $18 million in ticket sales. In the film, she is paired with
Saturday Night Live vet
Tina Fey, who presently stars on the sitcom
30 Rock.
Meanwhile, Poehler doesn't seem to be too concerned with her
Saturday Night Live schedule clashing with her pregnancy.
"[My gig on
Saturday Night Live is] a perfect New York job: It's crazy and loud and late and very hectic. But I'm always going home with the nurses when they're on the subway," she told the
Daily News.
