Reaper is one of the latest shows the CW is preparing to launch this fall.  The story revolves around a guy named Sam Oliver, who has spent his first 20 years on earth living the life of a slacker.  His parents have never pressured him to succeed like they have his younger brother, Keith.  Consequently, Sam abandons his college studies and ends up getting a dead-end job.

His world is turned upside down when, on his 21st birthday, he finds out the real reason why his parents have been so lenient with him.  Apparently, they sold his soul to the devil before he was even born. Now faced with an unusual destiny, Sam must help Satan collect all the evil souls that have escaped and bring them back to Hell.  The task proves dangerous and terrifying, even with his goofball friends watching his back.

Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) directed the pilot. He also serves as one of the show’s executive producers.

To play Sam’s love interest, Andi, is Missy Peregrym.  Originally, the role was given to Nikki Reed, but last month, the network decided to re-cast the role.  Peregrym is a Canadian actress whose most recent role in American television was Candice Wilmer on Heroes.

Ray Wise will appear on the show as Satan. Wise has worked on numerous television and film productions. More recently, he has guest-starred in such shows as 24, The West Wing, Bones and Law & Order: SVU.  In 2005, he appeared in the Oscar-nominated movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, where he portrayed CBS News anchorman, Don Hollenbeck.

Sam’s friend, Bert “Sock” Wysocki, will be played by Tyler Labine.  The 29-year-old actor has had roles in a variety of projects, including the films Flyboys, AntiTrust and My Boss’s Daughter, and the shows Traveler, Invasion and That Was Then.

To portray Sam’s other slacker buddy, Ben, is Rick Gonzalez.  Gonzalez’ most notable roles to date are Timo Cruz in Coach Carter and Primo is Biker Boyz.

Actress Valerie Rae Miller will appear as Josie, Sam’s ex-girlfriend.  Miller played Cindy in the series Dark Angel from 2001-2002. She has also served as the host of two game shows, Gladiator 2000 and Peer Pressure.

Other cast members include Kyle Switzer as Keith, Allison Hossack (Falcon Beach) as Sam’s mom and Andrew Airlie (The L Word) as Sam’s dad.
