The fifth season finale of
One Tree Hill left us with one of the biggest cliffhangers of the television season. A moment before the episode came to an end, Lucas called up a very special girl and asked her to go to Las Vegas with him to get married. The question that remains is: which girl did he choose? It could have been Peyton (
Hilarie Burton), who he had subconsciously been pining for all season. It may have been Brooke, who he had grown close to after the arrival of baby Angie. Or maybe it was former fiancée Lindsey, who called Lucas and admitted that she was still in love with him. We'll find out the identity of the mystery woman when the sixth season of
One Tree Hill premieres September 1 on the CW.
Though we don't have the answer to the big cliffhanger, we do have plenty of other juicy spoilers for season 6 of the series. Read on at your own risk!

At the end of season 5, I screamed out in horror as Dan was run down by a speeding car right outside of a hospital. The good news is that he's likely to survive the accident, allowing him to wreak more havoc in season 6. According to
Kristin at E!Online, there's a 98.8 percent chance that Dan will return. This news was also exciting for actor
Paul Johansson, who summed it up best by saying, "Dan is almost immortal. How can Dan die? He's the liaison between Lucifer and the world!"
Dan won't be the only character making a return appearance in
One Tree Hill's sixth season. Lindsey will also be back, though it's unknown if she'll return for one episode or a larger arc. Other characters introduced in season 5, such as Millicent, Mia, Victoria, Owen, and crazy nanny Carrie will also return.
There were about ten new characters introduced in the fifth season of
One Tree Hill. How many fresh faces can we expect to see in season 6? So far there's only one new character that we know of: a troubled 15-year-old foster child named Samantha. She'll be a rambunctious member of Haley's class, and also stir up drama by trying to steal something from Clothes Over Bro's. Haley (
Bethany Joy Galeotti) will do her best to help the rebellious teen, but will her motherly skills do the trick?
Though we don't know who Lucas called in the fifth season finale, E!Online's Kristin managed to get the answer from creator Mark Schwahn. She's not allowed to reveal who it is, but she did say that the decision made her very happy. We also know that there will be some scenes that take place in Las Vegas in the first couple episodes. The cast and crew wanted to fly to Vegas to shoot the scenes, but time and budget issues forced them to shoot in North Carolina.
One big rumor going around is that
Chad Michael Murray may be writing a script for season 6. We'll have to wait and see if that's true.
Filming for
One Tree Hill's sixth season kicked off on June 18 in Wilmington, North Carolina. The premiere will follow
Gossip Girl on Monday, September 1 on the CW.
