Despite the fact that some online retailers have posted One Tree Hill’s complete fourth season DVD for release on September 25th, fans are in fact going to have to wait a little bit longer for the set.  Since One Tree Hill was renewed as a mid season show, the DVD release will be times more towards the beginning of its new run to help promote the season.

At least one retailer is still taking pre-orders for the September 25ths release, however tvshowsondvd.com has confirmed with Warner Brothers that the company has indeed revised that date.  A new date has yet to be announced.

While no release date has been set, most mid-season sets are arriving in December, including LOST The Unexplored Edition. Fans in the LOST camp were a little dismayed by the release date as well, particularly after they learned that the Amazon UK site is announcing their LOST box set orders will ship in October, a few months ahead of the US release.   So far, there is no listing on Amazon for the One Tree Hill fourth season box set.

Since the fourth season ended as if the series itself were coming to an end, One Tree Hill fans have the luxury of not having to worry too much about the wait for the DVD set.  It will provide little, if any, additional information about the future direction of the series, which is scheduled to take a four year leap into the future when it returns.

As frustrating as it may seem, these moves are undoubtedly the best moves as far as the show is concerned.  A strong showing in DVD sales can be valuable in promoting the shows new season since those sales figures are reported prominently, and for free.
