The 4400 star Patrick Flueger is set to make an appearance in the big screen late this summer.

The film Last Resort, which is currently wrapping up production, revolves around a group of friends who go on vacation at a remote area following their college graduation. During their stay, a mysterious killer thrusts them into a terrible game where survival is possible only through the killing of another. Aside from Flueger, the cast also includes Agnes Bruckner, Teddy Dunn, Ryanne Duzich, Theo Rossi, Daniel Franzese and Taryn Manning.

Flueger, who is best known for his portrayal of Shawn Farrell in the USA Network’s The 4400, gained his first big break when he was cast in the film adaptation of The Princess Diaries. He originally tried out for the leading male character, but lost the role to actor Robert Schwartzman. However, director Garry Marshall decided to write a character specifically for Flueger, and consequently, Flueger appeared in The Princess Diaries as Jeremiah.

In addition to his film projects, the 23-year-old The 4400 star has taken on small roles in some television series, which include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Judging Amy, CSI: Miami, The Pitts, JAG, Grounded for Life and Boston Public.

In Last Resort, Flueger will appear as the character, Michael. The thriller, which serves as Chris Moore’s directorial debut, has been shooting in Lacombe, Louisiana. David Armstrong, who is most known for his work in the Saw movies, is the film’s Director of Photography.

Late last year, Jonathan Thornton from Disturbing Images Effects talked of his experience with the film.

“We have been doing some really cool effects on this shoot,” he said, “from body casting, to bullet hits to the head, working together with David Nami on the practical end of effects and stunt coordinator, Jeff Galpin.”

The film is under the production of Element Films and LIFT Films and will be distributed by Lionsgate.
