Lost: Top 5 Season 5 Predictions

Lost theorizing is the best and worst thing about the series.  With the way Lost is set up, with the way it's played out over its first four seasons, it allows fans to conjure up convoluted theories that never have any chance of materializing.  Not that a lot of those theories aren't creative, plausible or fun to think about, it's just that Lost is, by nature, an impossible show to predict.  There's no logical progression.  The audience knows the broad strokes, that Jack has now been given the task of bringing the Oceanic 6 back to the island for instance, but predicting how that happens, when it will occur in the time line, or what plot twists will be smacked down upon us in the interim isn't particularly reasonable, especially right now.  For instance, coming into season 4, no one would have ever even brought up the possibility of physically moving the island.  There was no foreshadowing of that event, not explicitly at least, and it's just the way Lost maneuvers its story, rendering specific plot predictions almost totally moot.  That doesn't make it any less fun, however.

What we have here is five predictions for season 5.  We'll have another article on Friday, discussing the possible format Lost will take regarding flash forwards and flash backs on Friday, but that's more a general story structure prediction.  These predictions are more specific, but not too specific.  Circumstantially, these predictions could remain plausible given all sorts of story permutations, which I think makes this more of a worthy exercise.

As always, we'd love to hear your preliminary season 5 predictions, or simply your vehement disagreements with mine.  The ending of season 4 opened up a plethora of possibilities for how season 5 will eventually play out, which allows a wide range of predictions available for all of us Lost fans.
