When someone new is cast on
Lost, fans cannot help but be excited. There's no other show that inspires such immediate and intense speculation when a new character is announced. Fans try to figure out how the new actor will fit into the overall
Lost puzzle, who this character will interact with, and why they are popping up at this specific point in time. Michael Ausiello has the exclusive scoop on
Lost's newest addition to the cast. Actress
Zuleikha Robinson will play the important role of Illeana, a European femme fatale who's both smart and incredibly dangerous. Robinson was previously seen on
The X-Files spin-off
The Lone Gunmen, as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's sidekick on the now-canceled
New Amsterdam and as Gaia on HBO's
Rome. Illeana will begin as a recurring character on
Lost, but there is a possibility for her to become a regular on
Lost's sixth and final season.
Now, where will Illeana fit in? That's the real question. Considering she's European, there's a solid chance that she will come into contact with Sayid, who has been working in Europe as an assassin since returning to the mainland with the Oceanic 6. I could easily see Sayid and Illeana mixing it up.
She could also be some sort of minion of Ben. Or a minion of Widmore. That she's considered smart and dangerous makes me believe that she is a mercenary of some kind. It wouldn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense for Illeana to be working independently – how would she get involved with the
Lost story if she were?
However, given that this is
Lost we're talking about, Illeana will probably be brought into the fold in a totally unexpected manner. Maybe she'll be the captain of the ship that brings the Oceanic 6 back to the island, or be Desmond's long-lost cousin. It's impossible to know.
