“Joe has high standards and he’s also scary,” a contestant named Olivia says in the clip, which also shows Joe covered in shake at one point.

Season 6 brings together 40 young home cooks between the ages of 8 and 13 as they flaunt their culinary abilities and compete for a MasterChef Junior white apron, which will only be given to 12 female and 12 male contestants.

Some of the challenges this season include a mystery box with 26 ingredients, a test that represents the contestants’ family heritage, meal preparation for one lucky couple and their guests at their wedding reception, a Blue Apron mystery box challenge, the perfect chicken-and-waffle dish and the pop-up restaurant challenge. At the end of the competition, the winner takes home the MasterChef Junior trophy and $100,000 grand prize.

In another clip, we get a glimpse as the junior chefs compete in a challenge that is anything but child’s play.
