T.R. Knight is officially Broadway bound and Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello just confirmed the former Grey's Anatomy actor's latest gig. Since leaving the ABC medical drama where he catapulted to stardom as Dr. George O'Malley, Knight has signed on to headline the upcoming musical production of Parade at L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum. Now, he's signed on to star in the upcoming Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor.

No official announcement about the production has been made but, according to Ausiello, the former Grey's Anatomy star will play the role of Max, a character created by Victor Garber in the original 1989 production.

Golden Globe Award winner Stanley Tucci will reportedly direct the classic farce, which is set to open in February 2010.

Written by Ken Ludwig, Lend Me a Tenor is a comedy that has been a popular choice of regional theatre companies and community theatre groups. It has been translated into 16 languages and produced in 25 countries, and has earned eight Tony Award nominations, winning one for Best Actor. Set in 1934, it revolves around renowned tenor Tito Merelli, popularly known as "Il Stupendo," who is scheduled to sing the lead in Otello, which is produced as a gala fundraiser for the Cleveland Opera Company. Unfortunately, chaos ensues even before the star leaves his hotel room. Merelli's wife, who has mistaken an autograph-seeker hidden in his closet for a secret lover, leaves him a "Dear John" letter. The flustered Merelli is accidentally given a double dose of tranquilizers to calm him and passes out, while the company's General Manager is determined that the show must go on so he asks  his assistant Max to impersonate the opera star. What follows is a chain-reaction of mistaken identity and plot twists.

Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.
