William Shakespeare wrote that “The course of true love never did run smooth,” and those words are applicable to every single character and relationship on Glee. Now the show is adding a new twist with a new character who has his sights set on coming between Blaine and Kurt.

According to TVLine, TV newcomer Grant Gustin will play Sebastian, a gay Dalton Warbler who is after Blaine. TVLine reports that a source from Glee calls it a “major role” and that he will be a villain for season 3. He will be introduced in the fifth episode.

I’m mildly curious to see how this will play out. It makes total sense because Blaine is kind of perfect and, as much as everyone loves Kurt, he’s kind of needy and self-centered as a boyfriend (see his constant pleas to get Blaine to transfer and his weeping over not being the best from the season 3 premiere). However, I do find it odd that this Sebastian fellow waited until AFTER Blaine transfers to go after him. I thought the whole point of the transfer was to drop the whole Dalton Academy storyline.

However, a love triangle for Blaine and Kurt should’ve been expected given the fact that this is Glee. I’m sure I’m missing one or two, but here’s a quick list of 12 love triangles the show has already done.

Rachel-Finn-Quinn
Finn-Rachel-Puck
Finn-Rachel-Jesse
Finn-Quinn-Sam
Quinn-Finn-Santana
Quinn-Sam-Santana
Santana-Brittany-Artie
Artie-Tina-Mike
Puck-Lauren-Santana
Emma-Will-Terri
Will-Emma-Ken
Will-Emma-Carl

So now it’s time for a new triangle. Will Blaine stray? Will Kurt’s presidential campaign and the competition for the lead role in West Side Story start to put a wedge between their relationship? And will Sebastian sing a Katy Perry song at some point, proving that he’s the new Blaine at Dalton? I don’t know the answer to the first two, but I feel like it’s safe to assume the answer to the third one will be “Yes.”
