While attending the Television Critics Association I had a few minutes to speak to Ashley Fink who plays Lauren Zizes on the FOX hit musical series, Glee.  She couldn’t give me much information on what’s coming up this season because the script had just been sent to her house that day, but we did talk about what song she’d like to sing and a couple of her favorites from last season.

Before we even got into what she loved about Glee, Fink launched into a complimentary stream of kind words about her costar, Chris Colfer (Kurt). After the TCA FOX party, Fink had places to be! She was heading straight to the wrap party for Colfer’s new movie Struck by Lightening. Fink gushed about Colfer, “He’s the love of my life, which sounds cliche, but I’m obsessed with him! I want to spend every second with him everyday.” She also said, “He’s genuine, hysterical and looks great in a pair of jeans.” Sounds like the perfect guy!

Since Fink had the first episode of Glee season 3 sitting at home unread, we discussed her favorite songs from last year and what she would ideally like to sing, given the opportunity.  One of her favorites (and mine) was Chris Colfer‘s version of “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles. We both shared that we kept that episode on our DVRs far past the end of the season. Another favorite was the mash-up of “Unpretty” and “I Feel Pretty.” Fink talked to me about how that music video impacted her really positively and that she has always loved the song, far before Glee covered it.

Listen to “I Feel Pretty/Unpretty” Again:

As for the song that she would love to sing, but hasn’t had the chance to sing yet?  Try Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”  But not by herself.  In Fink’s fantasy, she’d be dueting with Puckerman (Mark Salling) and whaling on the guitar simultaneously.  Sounds like good television to me!

Fink and I ended our brief conversation with her telling me what she’d love to see Zizes doing in the future.  In a perfect world, Puck and Zizes would run off somewhere and become self-made millionaires.  I let her know the fun in that would be watching how it would go horribly wrong.  Who knows, maybe Puck will try to knock over another ATM.
