Aisha Tyler, who is perhaps best known for her role as Andrea Marino in the first season of Ghost Whisperer, has been given the chance to become ABC’s next big talk show host. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress-comedian will star in The Aisha Tyler Show, which is “described as a hybrid that will incorporate aspects of a traditional talk show with comedic political commentary, produced comedy segments and other elements usually associated with late-night shows.”

The former Ghost Whisperer star’s new show is aimed at a younger audience and is being developed as a fully “wired” concept, with fans being able to communicate with Tyler via Facebook, Twitter and other platforms.

Since CBS recently pulled the plug on its long-running soap, Guiding Light, and will replace it with a game or talk show, there has been speculation that The Aisha Tyler Show might be eyed for ABC’s afternoon block, which currently airs soaps like All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital. But network sources have stressed that Tyler’s program is being targeted strictly for syndication or cable.

Production on The Aisha Tyler Show is slated to begin soon and ROAR will be the show’s executive producer.

Aside from Ghost Whisperer, Tyler is also credited for her roles on Friends, Boston Legal, The Boondocks, Reno 911, and in the Adam Sandler comedy, Bedtime Stories. Most recently, she premiered her one-hour Comedy Central special Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore.

Tyler is currently wrapping up her U.S. stand-up tour and is slated to direct and star in a series of webisodes for Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s FunnyOrDie.com. She’s also starring in the upcoming crime drama movie Black Water Transit, alongside Brittany Snow, Alex Sol, Laurence Fishburne and Karl Urban, just to name a few.
