Highlights

D.B. Weiss on the Red Wedding: “We always knew they were all going to die. It was part of the blue print.”

David Benioff on the Red Wedding: “Four years ago we said if we can get to that scene we can die happy.”

Richard Madden on his death: “I cried a lot actually.” And he wasn’t the only one. While we were crying at home, so was the cast and crew on set.

While Kit Harington has read all of the Game of Thrones books, not all of the actors want to know what’s ahead for their characters. Peter Dinklage on what’s ahead for his character, “I don’t want to know what’s coming.”

Harington on Jon Snow leaving Ygritte: “Some of the most brutal scenes are the most fun.”

George R. R. Martin said last year that he would go to a country without television when the Red Wedding aired. He discovered, “there are no countries without television….there was no escaping it.”

David Benioff gave props to the fans who kept quiet about the Red Weddings, monitoring boards and being careful “not to spill the beans” added Weiss.

Rose Leslie on her character: ” a wilding life is the only life she’s ever known.” But then Jon Snow showed up and her love for him dominates all of that.

Emilia Clarke on Daenerys: “She asks for advice less,” as she puts trust into her dragons, “and listens to herself more.” On getting to play such a strong female role, “It empowers me as a woman.”

Other Notes from Panel

The panel began with an In Memoriam clip.

There were a few “awes,” some laughs, and times of cheers and applause.

There was also a deleted scenes clip.

Martin is unlikely to write an immediate prequel on Ned Star but would consider father back on other characters. But first things first, he has to finish these books first!

Spotted panel cameo: walking across the stage,  Jason Momoa
