The HBO drama Game of Thrones
is going to have a very busy week
at the end of July. The epic fantasy series will make its Comic-Con
debut with a panel on Thursday, July 21, and then on Monday, July 25,
production will start in Northern Ireland for the show's second season.
Exactly who will still be around for that second season is a bit of a mystery to some of us watching, since Game of Thrones
has been killing off major characters throughout season 1. While the viewers who've read the books may have a good idea about where the story is going, I've enjoyed the show so much being completely ignorant of the book series that I wouldn't want to read them until after the entire series is over.
The Comic-Con panel will be a great way for fans of the books and series to come together, since it will be moderated by Game of Thrones
author George R.R. Martin. The current list of panelists includes the two men who turned it into a TV series, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, as well as stars Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryan), Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), Peter Dinklage (Tyrian Lannister), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow).
With the Emmy nominations coming the week before Comic-Con, there's a good chance Game of Thrones
will have a lot to celebrate, as the show could score big, with Peter Dinklage getting a lot of buzz to earn a nomination for Supporting Actor.
More panelists will be added as they're confirmed, so if your favorite isn't on the list yet, don't worry. However, I'm already happy since my favorite character is Jon Snow.
