After an exciting but slightly messy penultimate episode (so many miraculous survivals) Game of Thrones season 7 is coming to a close. The last season finale, because when season 8 ends it will be the series finale, looks to be the largest grouping of characters yet. Representatives of House Stark, House Targaryen and House Lannister will all be meeting for a peace summit in King’s Landing. This is being Game of Thrones, there is very little chance of a happy ending or peace coming out of this meeting of the minds.

Did Viserion’s Death Debunk a Theory About Tyrion on Game of Thrones?>>>

HBO is being very tight lipped about the anticipated season finale. It has been confirmed though that the finale, which is titled “The Dragon and the Wolf,” will be the longest episode of the series to date. The Game of Thrones episode will clock it at 79 minutes and 43 which almost makes it a contender for a feature-length film.

Thanks to the trailer and photos that have been released for the episode, a literal picture can be formed about what the season 7 finale will look like as well. It seems that the episode will be mainly split between King’s Landing where the armies of Cersei and Dany are surrounding the city and Winterfell where Sansa and at least Bran (but most likely Arya as well) will be located.

The trailer sets a somber tone for the Game of Thrones season 7 finale where the only spoken words are from Jon Snow. At the summit, that looks like it will be happening in the arena where Oberyn Martell was killed, Jon can be seen saying, “There’s only one war that matters and it is here.”

The official pictures give an idea of what everyone else’s mood at the meeting will be and it’s not surprising that no one, but especially Cersei and Jaime, look thrilled. There are also some glimpses at Theon, Sansa and Bran all of whom look equally miserable.

The most interesting thing though is not who is featured, but who doesn’t make an appearance at all. Daenerys Targaryen is no where to be seen. This is highly supicipous since she set up this meeting and she is presumably “the dragon” from the title.

Is Game of Thrones Foreshadowing Daenerys’ Death?>>>

It is possible though that the episode title doesn’t refer to two characters but one. Jon Snow, as the audience knows for certain, is a legitmate Targaryen. He is therefore both a dragon and a wolf, having familial ties to both House Stark and Targaryen. Maybe the Game of Thrones season 7 finale will finally have Jon’s true parentage become public knowledge.

It appears like Jon will be a very central figure in the finale as he has been all season but it’s unclear what exactly will befall him or the opposition. With season 7 being so relatively bloodless for Game of Thrones, especially when it comes to main characters, it’s probably safe to say that someone will die in the finale.

What are you theories and hopes for the finale? Where is Dany?

The Game of Thrones season 7 finale airs Sunday, August 27 at 9/8c on HBO. Want more news? Like our Facebook page!
