For those anxious to know when exactly Leonard Nimoy will be returning to Fringe, here’s an answer: October 8.

Yup, William Bell is returning on the fourth episode of the second season of this odd piece of television (and I mean it in a loving way).  Feels nice, really, to know when that return is, since the last we knew is that Nimoy is returning for a handful of episodes.  This shouldn’t be the last.
To guarantee that, let me explain to you the circumstances of his return.  Or should I say return?

The last time we saw Bellie, he was meeting Olivia in the alternate universe, complete with an intact World Trade Center.  The next time we’ll see him, it’s going to be a flashback, to that very same encounter.

Livy’s still looking for answers about her past–since, turns out, she’s part of that medical trial that involved Walter Bishop–so there’s this procedure (which TV Guide Magazine calls “eerie”) that will allow her to return to the events of the last season finale.

“[She will have a] further understanding of what Bell and Walter Bishop hoped to accomplish when they experimented on her as a child,” executive producer Jeff Pinkner said.

To help Livy, another woman who also went through the same experiments will come up.  And on the other side of the fence, there’s this new antagonist who’ll, suffice it to say, pretty much shake the show.

But for now, I’m pretty happy to know when Bell will be back.  Because, let’s face it, we can’t leave all these questions hanging, even those that involve that fantasy love affair between Livy and Peter, oh goodness…
