Family Guy’s fifth season may have already aired its last episode on May 20 but the popular animated show returns with the promise of a
Star Wars tribute. Scheduled to return in September the sixth season of
Family Guy will premiere with an hour-long episode of a special recap of the
Star Wars saga using
Family Guy characters.
Family Guy, an Emmy award winning animated series, is about a family who resides in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island. Created by Seth MacFarlane, the show features the characters
Peter Griffin, the blue-collar worker and head of the family,
Lois Griffin, Peter’s wife and stay-at-home mom,
Meg Griffin, the teenage daughter,
Chris Griffin, the goofy teenage son, and
Stewie Griffin, the diabolically evil infant son. Also included in the Griffin household is
Brian, the talking pet dog.
According to Daily Variety, Lucasfilm has already approved
Family Guy’s adaptation. The animated series is said to re-enact key scenes and narratives from "Star Wars: A New Hope." The episode, which is entitled
Blue Harvest, features the Griffin family being stuck at home during a blackout. With no TV to entertain the, Peter narrates a story leading to a Star Wars flashback. In the
Star Wars saga, Peter plays the role of Han Solo, while Lois plays the role of Princess Leia. Also present are Stewie, who will play the role of Darth Vader, Brian, who will the role of Chewbaca, Chris who will play the role of Luke, while Robots R2-D2 and C-3PO will be handled by Cleveland and Quagmire.
As a solid
Star Wars fan, MacFarlane is set to show footage from the episode at a
Star Wars mega-convention in Los Angeles.
Apart from the special Star Wars episode, Family Guy will also showcase its 100th episode this coming fall, with a two-part special in November.
