The stars of ABC’s Desperate Housewives gathered at the Cinerama Dome/Arclight Theaters in Hollywood Tuesday night to celebrate the premiere of actress Eva Longoria Parker’s new romantic comedy, Over Her Dead Body.

Joining Parker on the red carpet were Desperate Housewives costars Felicity Huffman, Nicollette Sheridan, Brenda Strong and Andrea Bowen, as well as her film costars Jason Biggs, Lake Bell, Stephen Root and Lindsay Sloane.  Sheridan’s long-time fiance, singer Michael Bolton, and Parker’s best friend Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell, Dancing with the Stars) were also present at the event.

Missing in action that night was Eva Longoria Parker’s basketball star husband Tony Parker, who was off in Seattle with the San Antonio Spurs.

Written and directed by Jeff Lowell (Spin City, The Drew Carey Show), Over Her Dead Body tells the story of Henry (Paul Rudd), whose wife-to-be Kate (Parker) unexpectedly dies on their wedding day.  Kate’s sister Chloe (Lindsay Sloane) convinces Henry to see a psychic named Ashley (Lake Bell), but when sparks begin to fly between the two, Ashley gets a visit from Kate, who will do anything to ruin the budding romance.

Eva Longoria Parker, who plays Gabrielle in Desperate Housewives, said in a press day for Over Her Dead Body that the idea of playing a ghost was what drew her to the film.

“That was the reason why I picked the movie,” she explained.  “I thought it would be fun to play a ghost.  How many times do you really get a script, you love the part, and it’s a ghost?  I thought ‘She can do anything, it would be fun to play her.'”

Parker also admitted that there her new big screen character has something in common with her Desperate Housewives alter-ego.

“I think my biggest challenge was differentiating her from Gabrielle [in the TV show].  They can both be a little bitchy, but I felt like Kate was really validated in her anger, and in her displeasure,” she said.  “She dies on her wedding day to the man she loves, and she doesn’t want to let him go.  She doesn’t know when to let go, that is her journey through the movie.”

Over Her Dead Body
hit theaters nationwide on Friday, February 1.
