We're only a few days away from the official Dancing with the Stars season 12 cast announcements. So it's high time that we get some leaks, right? Unfortunately, the rumors have been sparse this time around. But maybe that's about to change. Thanks to a spoilerish Facebook update, we know the name of at least one potential celebrity dancer. And that celebrity is...

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Christine O'Donnell.

Before you deafen your near neighbors with shouts of "Who?!?" I assure you that you know who she is. You did, anyway. Her name was everywhere during those elections last fall when O'Donnell, a Tea Party candidate from Delaware won the Republican primary and then posed a strong (but ultimately unsuccessful) challenge to Democrat Chris Coons. Will her dancing endeavors reap more rewards than politics?

Maybe, maybe not. As it stands, we can't even be sure that Christine O'Donnell is going to say yes. She's just thinking about it. The following message was posted on the politician's Facebook page on Monday morning:

"FACEBOOK EXCLUSIVE: I just got the Official "Ask" from Dancing with the Stars!! Although I am utterly flattered, my initial thought was to decline, as 2 year old nephew has more rhythm than me, and my two left feet!! However Eileen thinks i should do it. What do you think?"

This first message was followed by a second update within a few hours:

"The facebook comments about Dancing w The Stars list great pros and cons. Thank you for your input. Still undecided. Book comes first."

O'Donnell's fans seem to have mixed opinions, to put it mildly. With comments like "Go go go!!" appearing close to "It's more of an opportunity for left wing moonbats to paint you as an intellectual lightweight," the fans' views range from enthusiastic support to concern for political fallout to dismay.

The inclusion of Christine O'Donnell in even a prospective list of Dancing with the Stars competitors points to the show's likely desire to keep the political stars on the dance floor. After last season's high ratings and attention-grabbing controversy over Bristol Palin, of course DWTS would want to keep politics involved. And O'Donnell's biggest claim to fame is her political affiliation with the Tea Party (plus, that whole "witch" thing), so she's a fairly obvious choice.

On the other hand, Christine O'Donnell isn't much of a celebrity. It's hard to keep track of failed politicians, and she has rapidly disappeared from the spotlight in the months since. With all of the high-profile politicians out there, it feels a bit like O'Donnell is a fallback contestant.

Maybe Dancing with the Stars is just really into tangoing Tea Partiers?

The official cast announcement for season 12 of Dancing with the Stars will be made during The Bachelor on Monday, February 28 on ABC.

What do you think of Christine O'Donnell as a potential Dancing with the Stars competitor? Does the show need another star with political affiliations? Would you be excited to watch her? Do you think O'Donnell should have waited before posting about her candidacy? Leave your comments below!
