Heather Morris is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars season 24 but this wasn’t the first time the former Glee star was asked to hit the dance floor. In her blog on People, the 30-year-old actress revealed why she had to turn down her first DWTS offer in 2015 and how relieved she is that her pro dancing partner is Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

“I was two months pregnant. ‘NO WAY,’ I thought. With my luck, something would go wrong. And, seriously, I’d rather sit on my couch than look like a whale on camera,” Morris wrote of her decision to initially decline to join the ABC dance competition.

Fortunately, Morris was given another chance to flaunt her dance moves.

“Fast forward to about a month ago when I got a call from my reps saying, ‘Dancing with the Stars is circling back and wants to know if you’re interested in doing the show this season.’ Of course, I immediately said yes; I’m so excited to get the chance to dance again, it’s gonna feel so great,” she revealed.

Morris is paired with Chmerkovskiy, who recently welcomed a baby boy with pro-dancer Peta Murgatroyd — something the Glee actress can relate to.

“We chat for a bit and I soon find out he’s not only just a big, goofy teddy bear, but he’s also a new daddy to a mere 2-month-old son, Shai, which, for me, is a giant ice breaker. Let’s be real, there’s nothing’s worse than having to go into work with a young, strapping man without kids who doesn’t understand why I’m UTTERLY EXHAUSTED after my son was up for two hours crying the night before. Maks gets it, thank the Lord,” she wrote.

Morris isn’t the first Glee alum to join Dancing with the Stars. Co-star Amber Riley joined season 17 and bagged the mirrorball trophy with pro-dance partner Derek Hough. For this reason alone, Glee co-star Naya Rivera thinks Morris has big shoes to fill.

“When I saw the news I was so excited,” Rivera told People. “I definitely am going to be rooting for her and watching like I was with Amber.”

“I feel like Heather’s got some big shoes to fill,” added Rivera. “But I’m not worried about her because she’s a fantastic performer and a great dancer. I think she’s going to bring so much fun to the show. I’m excited!”

Do you also think Morris has big shoes to fill? How far do you think will Morris go in the competition?
