It’s that time again on Dancing with the Stars, the team dances! On Monday, Len Goodman will return for Eras Night and the eight couples will be split into two teams to take on two unique Freestyles.

Maks Has “Zero Interest” in Returning to DWTS>>>

In keeping with the theme, Pure DWTS reports that the teams will feature a battle of the Past vs. the Future. As is customary, the two couples with the highest total scores from the season will serve as captains, which would be Laurie Hernandez and James Hinchcliffe.

Team Future

-Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy
-Marilu Henner and Derek Hough
-Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko
-Terra Jole and Sasha Farber

This is certainly a strong team with all female stars. Derek is famous for winning team dances, though not recently. While he had an impressive record of 12 team dance victories in a row, the last two seasons have resulted in a tie and his first ever loss. In addition, Gleb has never participated in a team dance and Sasha has never won one,

Team Past

-James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess
-Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold
-Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke
-Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev

This is an odd team with three male athletes and Marcia Brady. That could definitely help Maureen really stand out. Other good news for this team is that Artem has never lost a team dance (though he’s only competed in two of them) and Cheryl has won five times, second only to Derek. The bad news is that Ryan and Maureen are arguably the two worst dancers left in the competition.

But they definitely have a cool song choice, the theme song to the Starz series Outlander, a haunting Scottish tune. Check it out to get an idea of what’s to come.

There’s one other small statistical distinction on the line this week. Currently Mark Ballas is the biggest loser when it comes to team dances, losing five times. However, both Cheryl and Val have each lost four times. Since they are on opposite teams, assuming there isn’t a tie, one of them will join Mark as the big loser when it comes to the team dances.

Meanwhile, Sasha Farber will try to avoid the same fate he’s suffered in each of his two previous seasons as a pro. Both times he lost the team dance AND got eliminated on that night. Could the same thing happen to Terra Jole?

Check out the futuristic and past team dances on Eras Night, coming Monday at 8/7c on Dancing with the Stars.
