Samantha Harris has a lot on her plate these days besides co-hosting Dancing with the Stars and serving as a correspondent on The Insider. The two-time Emmy Award nominee and celebrated TV personality has finally made her Broadway stage debut in a starring role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning hit musical, Chicago, on Tuesday. Fans who missed Harris’ Broadway debut can still catch her in Chicago through the six-week limited engagement that will last until Sunday, August 16 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Chicago, a Kander and Ebb musical set in prohibition era Chicago, is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the “celebrity criminal.” The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes she had reported on. The regular performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm Sunday evenings at 7pm Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:30pm.
After her stint at the Ambassador Theatre, Harris will also star as Roxie Hart, a showgirl accused of murder, in the Greenville, South Carolina engagement of the Chicago national tour, which begins Tuesday, August 18 through Sunday, August 23 at the Peace Center.
Aside from Dancing with the Stars, Harris has appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Good Morning America, The View and Early Edition. Moreover, she has worked as a correspondent and fill-in anchor for E! News, where she also co-hosted all award show coverage for the network including Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Emmy Awards. On stage, she has appeared in the 23-city North American tour of Eric Idle Exploits Monty Python, where her comedic, vocal and dance performance electrified audiences at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and other prestigious venues.
Harris will reprise her hosting duties on the ABC competitive dance series when Dancing with the Stars returns for its ninth season on September 21.
