As you all know by now, two-time Dancing with the Stars champion Julianne Hough has been diagnosed with endometriosis and will be having surgery today to have her appendix removed. She announced last night after her performance on Dancing with the Stars that Edyta Sliwinska will take over for her as Cody Linley‘s teacher and dance partner.

Earlier today, Julianne Hough shared details about her surgery and expected prognosis on her blog, which can be found exclusively at Fancast.com.

“Later today, I’m meeting with my doctor,” she wrote. “He’s going to go through everything about the surgery. I’m not worried. I’m feeling good.”

She explained that her trip to the hospital last week turned out to be more than just a “tummy ache.” She had a ruptured cyst that was on her ovary. She didn’t even know that she had endometriosis. “I’ve apparently had it for a long time because I’ve had this pain for about the last five years.”

Julianne’s mother and sister both have endometriosis as well. “I guess my brother Derek is the only sibling in the family who doesn’t have to doesn’t have to worry about having his ovaries checked,” Julianne joked.

The procedure will be done laparoscopically, and she’s giving herself two weeks off from Dancing with the Stars. During that time, Edyta Sliwinska will be taking over the duty of molding Cody Linley into a full-grown ballroom dancer. I don’t know about you, but I’m curious to see what this new match-up is going to be like. I mean, Julianne is no doubt a very beautiful and talented dancer, but there’s something really young and fresh-faced and innocent about her. Edyta has a super-charged sexuality that young Cody Linley might not be able to handle.

In any case, I’m glad to hear that Julianne is in good spirits and her prognosis is good. Read her full blog entry at Fancast by clicking here.
