The body of Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew has been found, according to sources. In an FBI press conference, Deputy Director John Pistole says that the FBI has found a body that they believe to be Julian King, for who an Amber Alert had been issued on Friday, following the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother. Julian, her nephew, was immediately reported missing. Over the weekend, Hudson offered a $100,000 reward for the safe return of Julian. It appears as if this was all for naught, as the FBI found the body in question early this morning in a parked SUV in the west side of Chicago. The license plate number matched the description given in Julian’s Amber Alert.
American Idol: Jennifer Hudson’s Mother and Brother Found Dead
Darnell Donerson, 57, and Jason Hudson, 29, were found shot and killed inside Donerson’s Chicago apartment on Friday. There were no signs of forced entry, and it was unclear whether anything had been stolen from the apartment. An Amber Alert was immediately issued for Julian King. Julian’s stepfather, William Balfour, was detained over the weekend in connection with the murders. No charges have been filed, but he’s been kept detained for a parole violation. There is little information on who the suspects are in this case or what the motives may have been. That information will present itself in the coming days.
Jennifer Hudson was a stand-out on American Idol, and has since garnered bigger fame in Hollywood. Two years ago, Hudson won Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her work in the theatrical musical Dreamgirls. She has since been working on her debut album, and has acted in other films, notably last summer’s Sex and the City Movie. This is an incomprehensibly sad time for her right now, and we wish her the best.
Update (3pm PT):
It has been confirmed that the body was indeed Jennifer Hudson’s nephew. Hudson herself had to identify the body.
