Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kerr Smith, and legs in a car. All three are part of the Criminal Minds season 10 premiere, and all three can be seen in the preview clips CBS has released from “X.”

In the season 10 premiere, the BAU heads to California to investigate a series of murders that have left the victims unidentifiable. Hewitt joins the team as its newest member, Kate Callahan, an undercover agent, and Smith guest stars as Frank Cowles, an acromotophile, someone who collects limbs.

Usually, the promo focuses on the case, and this one is no different, though it does also introduce Kate, who’s “like a Boy Scout,” as she tells Hotch, and right in the middle of pulling over Frank. As for the case, the team finds not one, but three legs in a man’s (maybe Frank’s?) car.

Watch a sneak peek from the Criminal Minds season 10 premiere:

In less than 30 seconds, not only are Blake’s whereabouts revealed (teaching full-time in Boston), but Kate also has a job, much to her surprise. “That’s it? I’ve only been in here two minutes. There’s no song or dance?” She asks Hotch. “I had a whole thing prepared. I don’t know if you know this, but there is a band outside your door.” None of that is necessary because her work speaks for itself. Easiest job interview ever?

Here’s another clip from “X”:

It only takes five seconds for Frank to get on Kate’s bad side. “You must have worked extra hard to get that badge,” he comments. Rossi gets right to the point: Frank buys large quantities of preservatives, and they want to take a look at his supply. He refuses to let them without a warrant, but Kate’s already looking past searching his house. “When we arrest that guy, do you mind if I do the honors?” She asks Rossi.

Criminal Minds season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9pm on CBS.

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
