AJ Cook Gives Reasons to Watch 'Criminal Minds'

criminal mindsSince it premiered in 2005, Criminal Minds has earned acclaim for its distinction from other police procedural dramas.  Instead of focusing on the crime, the show gives attention to the criminal as explored by a team of profilers from the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) at Quantico, Virginia.  In line with this, cast member AJ Cook adds a few more reasons to watch the CBS show for those who have not yet seen the crime series.

According to the 29-year-old actress, Criminal Minds has a disturbing drama that makes the show appealing to the audience.  Within each episode, the show explores what lies in the dark psychology that explains exactly what makes a murderer tick.  And despite the edgy and violent scenes, many female fans continue to support the show and its thought provoking storylines.

"I think that's what people are drawn to," Cook said.  “We come out of the gate the same, pretty much, from birth.  It's interesting to see what kinds of things happen to a person to make them that way."

Besides the intellectual aspect, the actress says there's another reason why women tune in: Shemar Moore.  The 37-year-old actor, who plays the confident and assertive Derek Morgan, has attracted many viewers since his modeling days, as well during his exposure on The Young and the Restless and Soul Train.

"Shemar Moore is a dreamboat!" exclaimed Cook.

"I think one of the first things I said to him was 'alright dude, I'm just going to get this out of the way, I grew up watching you on the soaps.'  He was so gracious with it all, and he was really, really cool about it," she added.

Meanwhile, fans can catch Cook as Special Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, the team's liaison with the media and local police agencies on Criminal Minds every Wednesday at 9pm ET/PT on CBS.
