Fans gathered in the epic Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 to show their support for NBC’s Community in hopes for six seasons and a movie. The cast and EPs sat down to discuss what’s ahead for season 5 and more.

Donald Glover Not Returning Full-Time for Community Season 5 >>>

Who’s Here:

Jim Rash (Dean)

Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley)

Alison Brie (Annie)

Ken Jeong (Chang)

Danny Pudi (Abed)

Gillian Jacobs (Britta)

Chris McKenna and Dan Harmon (Executive Producers)

Dan Harmon on being back: He’s determined not to fail. He will make the next 13 episodes count, not looking at them as the final 13 but realizing they are a very important 13 episodes.

Harmon on themed episodes: There will be an animated episode this season. He doesn’t want to plan too much ahead, but because they need a lot of time for the animation, we have that confirmed. He believed season 3 was over-planned. Harmon continued by saying, “We want to get back to that season 1 and 2 feel of being very organic.”

Harmon on the first couple episodes: This show is like a “rescue dog, it pees itself every time there’s lightening. I want to give it a milk bone and understand I’m not going to hurt it.” Basically, in the first few episodes, he wants to get back to the characters and to Greendale.

Other Notes

Annie is a rip-off of Tracy from Election. Brie has made it her own.

Gillian Jacobs never feels secure with the show as it’s always on the cusp of cancellation.  She jokes that she’s never had steady employment before the show either.

Danny Pudi has learned Abed is not alone. And he’s “truly surprised” and thankful to be making Community. His favorite set is the pillow fort!

Dean is an “insanely emotional character” and is everything you should keep secret about yourself.

Jim Rash was trying to match the voice of Harmon and McKenna when writing the body-switching episode from last season, saying, “It was an honor to be a part of it.”

Dino Stamatopoulos (Star-Burns) showed up to ask a question! While Harmon asked if Star-Burns is alive and coming back, he points out that’s up to Harmon. Stamatopoulos writes for Community full-time.

Chang will be back “Chang-ing it up” this season. Harmon admits that he is “hit and miss” and really loved him as a security guard.

Community is going to be syndicated on Comedy Central on Fridays.
