David Boreanaz is popularly known for his leading roles as Angel on the supernatural series of the same name and as Seeley Booth on Bones.  But the 39-year-old actor is no stranger behind the cameras as well.  In 2004, he directed the episode called “Soul Purpose” for Angel and now, he’s ready to do it all over again.  This time, however, he’ll be working on his first ever episode of the hit FOX crime show.

“I’ve done it before and I look forward to directing Bones for the first time,” Boreanaz said.  “I like the process of it so it’ll be a good time.  I enjoy the directing aspect, producing and acting – all the spiel!”

On the other hand, Boreanaz has also admitted that filming Bones can be “a squeamish business.”

“You just make sure that you’re not eating or having lunch,” the actor said of dealing with the gruesome fake body parts the characters frequently have to find on the forensic crime drama.  “It’s amazing how really gross they can make something look and how really real it is.”

As a show that focuses on FBI case files concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth to the forensic anthropology team of Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel), the cast and crew of the series always make it a point to make the storylines realistic as possible.

“The prop guys, they never cease to surprise me,” the Bones star added.  “It gets a bit graphic, the bodies that happen, they always have the maggots that are eating the bodies or a rat that’s scurrying in and out.”

Bones,
which is currently on its fourth season, also stars John Francis Daley as Lance Sweets, Michaela Conlin as Angela Montenegro, Tamara Taylor as Camille “Cam” Saroyan, and TJ Thyne as Jack Hodgins.
