Big Brother and CBS promised big changes for the upcoming season of Big Brother 8, and they weren't lying. Allison Grodner announced last night that the changes for Big Brother 8 aren't really going to be alterations to the current format, but will come in the form of an addition: an uncensored, nightly three hour spin off.
Big Brother will once again air on CBS three nights a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The big addition is a nightly, three hour live broadcast from the Big Brother house, to air on sister network ShoToo, an offshoot of Showtime. Most cable packages that carry ShowTime also carry ShoToo.

The three hour nightly show, entitled “Big Brother: After Dark” will air from 9PM PT/12AM ET to 12AM PT/3AM ET.
Says new executive producer Allison Grodner: "That's primetime for the 'Big Brother' house. It's when our houseguests are most wide awake and having fun, talking about strategy and playing the game. People are going to see quite a bit."
Since it is completely uncensored, profanity and nudity will be shown (although the show will still be blacked out when housemates sing copyright infringed songs).
We called this a few weeks ago, and CBS has certainly made the correct decision here. They've taken a look at the European versions of Big Brother and seen how important the uncensored factor is to the series' success.
Also announced by CBS is the premiere date for Big Brother, which will be July 5. The 5th is a Thursday, and Big Brother will lead into
Pirate Master on that night. That will be the last time Pirate Master airs on Thursday, because on the following Tuesday, July 10, the Mark Burnett series moves permanently to Tuesday nights.
24 hour live feeds are still available for purchase on line for the usual fifteen dollars a month.
