Big Brother 13 has been all about the veterans, winning the first three competitions, and making all of the decisions in the house. With Jordan as HoH, it looks like another veteran week, but the Power of Veto competition offered up a pleasant surprise.

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 13 spoilers.

First, Jordan nominated Adam and Dominic, and then Rachel and Brendon were chosen to play in the PoV competition.

Dominic won the Power of Veto!

Finally, a newbie wins something. The competition was an individual one where the HGs had to give up things or take punishments.

Rachel is on slop for two weeks and earned the wrath of the other veterans for being too cocky and loud during the competition, yelling at Jordan, which prompted Jeff to yell back. In the aftermath, as always, Rachel was sad and emotional while Brendon tried to calm her down and explain that she isn’t a very good social player.

I’m thrilled that Dominic won, because it means, for the first time, the veterans don’t get exactly what they want and the newbies prove that they might be able to fight back. Of course, the victory is hollow since Cassi and Shelly will 100 percent be the replacement nominees, and Cassi is all-but-guaranteed to go home.

When I first heard Brendon and Rachel were chosen to play, I was scared that the game was fixed and the veterans would just take over, but luckily the part-time model proved that he’s here to fight. It also gives me great joy to know that Rachel has a punishment and still didn’t win, because it means she’s finally getting what she deserves after being overly confident in how great she is. Someone needs to remind her that she barely made the jury her season and that of all the veterans, she did the worst on her season.

With this win, Dominic also becomes my favorite. I’m just sad that Cassi, who seems to be the only other person truly willing to go after the veterans, is going to suffer because of it. The veterans have four votes to evict her, and like last week, they only need to flip one person to send Cassi home. Since Porsche is officially Rachel’s Mini-Me, she’ll do it, and Kalia is so scared of the veterans she’ll probably send Cassi home too.

Now if one of the veterans can just win the next HoH, Big Brother 13 might become a fair fight and a good season.
