American Idol Without JLo?
Do you remember after season 10 ended there was much speculation on if Jennifer Lopez would return to the show? She even brought up her trepidation to the press, saying how she had other projects she might work on instead. Well, now she's at it again.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Lopez told Ryan Seacrest
that "I have some movie things in the works, and I have the tour ... you know, I love the show. It hurts me to think about not doing it ... Everything is kind of like ... taking it day by day. I never make the decisions until it's time to make the decision."
Then just this week, she stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show
and continued with the same position
: "I really do enjoy it. Now this is my second year -- I don't know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they're getting more mobile, they're about to go into school ... So I just don't know."
Oh, I think with the right amount of money dangled in front of her, she'll sign on the dotted line in a heartbeat, because we all know she's just doing this for contract negotiation purposes. So does she only sign one year contracts with this show? If so, I hate to think we're going to be going through with this charade every single summer.
Phillip Phillip's Upcoming Surgery
It's been no surprise that current Top 3 finalist Phillip Phillips has been having health issues throughout the competition. (Earlier in the season, he was sent to the hospital, which seemed to be the start of his problems.) And he has mentioned to E!
that he will have to undergo surgery this summer. He said, "It's probably going to go down. It's a pretty good-size surgery, a lot of time down, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So we'll see. I should be [back in time for the tour]." The surgery will most likely take place right after the season ends and before the tour begins, which would be the best time because if he wins (which he most likely will) you don't want the winner to be missing from the tour.
David Cook is Without a Label
Last week when season 7 winner David Cook appeared on American Idol
to perform his newest single, "The Last Song I'll Write for You," the song was available to download beginning that same day. But many online noticed that it wasn't attached to his usual record label, RCA Records. He told The Hollywood Reporter
that it was being self-released and confirmed he's no longer with the label that got him his start post-Idol
: "It just felt like the right time to try something different. I love the creative control, so we're going to self-release and see what happens from there."
He's also separated from 19 Entertainment and currently with Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment. I give props to Idol
for being willing to give him a platform last week even though it was a self-released song.
