As BuddyTV mentioned previously, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is trying to keep herself busy these days in the wake of the death of her former fiance AJ Jewell. And one of the things on her list is her clothing boutique called TAGS, which recently opened for business in Smyrna’s West Village.

“I’m still in shock,” said Burruss, who has already received supportive letters from fans. “I like to keep busy with stuff like this.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star isn’t alone in this clothing boutique venture though. She’s working with her friend Peaches Chin, who helped come up with the “luxury for less” concept of TAGS, with most items under $100.

While some people have questioned Kandi Burruss’ decision to open a clothing boutique in the midst of a recession, the award-winning song writer remains optimistic that business will thrive because of the store’s affordability. And she plans to maintain that principle even if her other Real Housewives of Atlanta co-stars decide to showcase their clothing lines at TAGS.

“We’ll give them the option,” Burruss said. “We want to support everyone.”

Aside from clothes, TAGS includes accessories such as belts, a range of costume jewelry and handbags.

“Atlanta is a fashion town. Anybody who loves fashion will love this store. [But] there are no places for men to shop in this area. We felt we had something different to offer,” Burruss said, adding that 60 percent of TAGS inventory would be for men.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Chin and Burruss source apparel and accessories for men and women at trade shows in Las Vegas and New York, paying more attention to price point than brand names.
