The CW is gearing up for a full summer of reality shows with a wide range of topics from dating and improv to ballet and The Hunger Games.
The network’s summer schedule will include a reboot of the beloved improve series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, a new dating show hosted by one of the stars of The Vampire Diaries and 90210, a Hunger Games-style survival competition series and the second season of ballet docudrama Breaking Pointe.
Whose Line Is It Anyway? returns starting Tuesday, July 16 at 8pm with back-to-back episodes. The new version will be hosted by The Talk‘s Aisha Tyler and feature regular panelists Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie. The fourth comedian working through improvised sketches will rotate each week.
Joining Whose Line Is It Anyway? on Tuesday nights is the dating show Perfect Score at 9pm starting July 16. Hosted by Arielle Kebbel (Lexi on The Vampire Diaries and Vanessa on 90210), each episode features two friends trying to pick a date from a pool of 12 eligible hotties. The twist is that everyone takes a compatibility test beforehand and each potential dater is assigned a cash value based on how strong of a connection they are to the friends. Whoever picks the date with the highest cash value (meaning the most compatible) wins both the date and the money.
The second season of Breaking Pointe, the ballet docudrama set at Ballet West in Salt Lake City, will begin Monday, July 29 at 9pm. Viewers can once again follow the intense struggles that go into being a master in the ballet world.
Finally, the CW will debut a new reality competition, The Hunt, Wednesday, July 31 at 9pm. The show will place 12 teams of two into “The Arena” where they will live for one month while competing for limited resources. The official description actually says “the teams must hunt each other down to survive,” which definitely has a very Hunger Games sound to it. The winning team will get $250,000.
All four of these reality shows will join the 20th cycle of America’s Next Top Model (now with male models!) this summer, though an exact premiere date for ANTM has yet to be announced.
