Not a lot happened this week on The Bachelor as far as drama is concerned but there were a few unexpected moments that are worth talking about, at least among Bachelor fans out there. Cassandra was sent home on her birthday before the rose ceremony while Sharleen, who received the group date rose, had conflicted feelings for Juan Pablo. Bachelor host Chris Harrison and Juan Pablo himself share their thoughts on this week’s episode while season one Bachelorette Trista Sutter share her top picks for the next Bachelorette.

Juan Pablo on sending Cassandra home on her birthday: “Sending Cassandra home that night was very hard. When I got back to the girls I told them that she is a wonderful woman and deserves a great guy, but that I wasn’t the right guy for her. The other girls then told me that night was her birthday, and I almost died. I was devastated, and at first I thought, ‘What a birthday present I just gave Cassandra!’ I felt horrible. After thinking about it longer, I realized that it was better to be honest with her and that she would now get to spend her birthday at home with her son. That made me feel better.”

Surprisingly Juan Pablo didn’t mention anything about Sharleen’s revelation this week. In a nut shell, she got upset about Kat’s elimination and felt guilty because she’s still there in spite of the fact that she doesn’t think she and Juan Pablo have a future together. However, Chris Harrison has plenty to say.

In his Entertainment Weekly blog, the Bachelor host pointed out how strange Juan Pablo and Sharleen’s relationship is. “I say interesting because she didn’t get two words out before he started making out with her,” he recalled. “Their relationship intrigues me the most — at times they seem to have such great chemistry, and then at times it couldn’t seem more distant and awkward. Sharleen unexpectedly got the rose on the group date. I think the most interesting part of the night was the emotion Sharleen showed when it was all over. She also left us with some rather ominous words about how she’s really feeling.”

Chris Harrison continued to talk about Sharleen and Juan Pablo in an interview with TV Guide, saying he can’t figure her out. “Sharleen has been an enigma since she got out of the limo,” he said. “I find their relationship so intriguing. In New Zealand, she didn’t even say hello before he jumped on her and started making out with her. Even she was like, ‘What was that?’ It’s like, ‘I don’t know what to say to you, we have very little in common, so I’m going to just make out with you.’ Since the moment when she almost turned down the first impression rose, she keeps riding this and gets caught up in the moment, but then later upon reflection, she’s like, ‘I don’t know.’ After [this week’s] rose ceremony, I started looking at the monitors and saw Sharleen crying and was like, ‘What did I miss?’ It’s been hard to put a finger on her the entire time and I don’t know what it is, but it’ll come to a head and continue in Miami.”

Meanwhile, Trista Sutter has revealed her top picks for the next Bachelorette: Renee, Nikki and Clare!

On why Trista chose Renee: “She seems down to earth, considerate, intelligent, adventurous, and incredibly deserving.”

On why Trista thinks Nikki would be a good Bachelorette: “She adds a little bit of drama to a show that’s always more fun to watch with just a touch of dramatic flair. But, above all those things, I LOVE her wit and humor! With Nikki in The Bachelorette’s shoes though, I have a feeling there would be a lot of laughter thrown in, too.”

On why Clare is in Trista’s top 3: “I love her honesty, her spunk, and her family values. She’s articulate and willing to go on an adventure in the name of love. Not to mention, she’s beautiful and if she doesn’t end up watching the DVD from her father with JP, I’m hoping she would share it with us (Bachelor/ette fans of course!) on her own season!”

Do you think Sharleen will eventually leave on her own? Do you agree with Trista’s Bachelorette picks?
