Tonight’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance features auditions in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas. First up, in LA, resident judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy are joined once again by Jesse Tyler Ferguson (from Modern Family). I think that he should be on at least every other week as he is able to have fun with some off-beat contestants, like the woman who wears a red chicken costume. (Yes, really!)

Which Women Are Going to Vegas?

Alex Kessinger: This 18-year-old, whose aunt is her dance coach, performs a steamy contemporary number which earns her a ticket to Vegas.

Makenzie Dustman: She performs a hauntingly beautiful contemporary piece which clinches her spot in Las Vegas. Makenzie is my favorite performance from the LA auditions.

Mariia Lebedeva: This dancer performs a Latin ballroom with her partner, Misha Smagin. Yes, that’s right, this duo brings up the temperature and books their flight to Vegas.

Which Men Are Going to Vegas?

Misha Smagin: His chemistry with his partner Mariia Lebedeva ignites the set during their Latin dance.

Sebastian Serra: This dancer with the Orlando ballet books his ticket to Vegas, and also causes Jesse Tyler Ferguson to wax poetic about how both girls and boys who watch So You Think You Can Dance will love him.

Emilio “Millie” Dosal
: This 22-year-old Texas native performs an entertaining hip-hop and animation dance, which secures his ticket to Vegas and the next round of competition.

Who’s NOT Going to Vegas?

Nicholas “Slick” Stewart: This Brooklyn-born street performer specializes in flex dancing, which is a combination of breaking and contortionist movement. His ability to dislocate his arms and other body parts earns screams from the judges and, I am sure, quite a few viewers at home. After being sent to choreography, his quest ends.

In Austin, actress Minnie Driver joins the panel. Mary Murphy’s hair proves that, as the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas. The auditions get off to a rousing start with the audition of a self-taught hip hop four-year-old named Anthony. His funny and fresh performance earns him a ticket to Disney World!

Which Women Are Going to Vegas?

Hayley Erbert
: This contemporary dancer from Kansas easily wins her spot in Vegas.

Daniela Bustillos: She survived a horrifying ordeal at gun-point with her family, and this contemporary dancer has a lock at the judge’s table — her mom! Despite her mother’s recommendation for Vegas, Daniela is sent to choreography by the three other judges, and then on to Las Vegas.

Darlesha Goggins: This hip hop dancer performs with her boyfriend, Hampton “The Exorcist” Williams, and their four-year-old daughter. Their unusual and moving dance secures a ticket to Vegas for all three.

Which Men Are Going to Vegas?

Hampton “The Exorcist” Williams:  After first being seen at auditions in season 9, Hampton performs an “Exorcist-style” group dance with his girlfriend and their four-year-old daughter, earning a standing ovation from the judges and three tickets to Vegas.

Nick Murkleroy: This powerful contemporary dancer performs an amazing dance and secures a ticket to Vegas. He’s my favorite dancer in the Austin round.

Donovan Gibbs: This hip hop dancer lives with his family in the dance studio that they own since losing their home. After Donovan’s dance, his dad comes up and battles him on stage. Donovan wins a ticket to Las Vegas. Can his dad go, too? They are both incredible.

Dannon O’Brien: He is not only a dancer, but an amateur make-up artist. After performing a charismatic contemporary dance, he punches his ticket to Vegas.

Shane Garcia: One of the most inspiring stories of the night, Shane has a stutter and feels that dance is his true mode of communication. He is also able to speak more fluidly if he talks in beats. This bone-breaking and animation dancer is sent to choreography and then to Vegas.

Who’s NOT Going to Vegas?

Well, apparently me, because much of the actual talent makes it to the next round.
