Anyone who watches The Real Housewives of Orange Country wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Vicki Gunvalson has reunited with her former boyfriend Brooks Ayers, despite opposition from her friends and family about his character. The two are dating again, but “taking it slow.”

“My 26-year-old isn’t going to determine who I date,” Vicki told Life & Style Magazine. “I understand Briana and Ryan’s opinion … but that doesn’t mean I’m going to follow it.”

Vicki’s daughter Briana and her husband Ryan have been especially vocal about now wanting Brooks around the house, where they all live with Briana and Ryan’s infant.

Vicki previously wrote on her Bravo blog about the awkward situation, “When I agreed to have Briana and Ryan move in, at that time I also agreed not to have Brooks over. Briana is concerned of introducing the baby to not only Brooks, but any other man that I would date because during this time we wanted to show Troy consistency. This was worth it for me to do to avoid fighting and it is a benefit to them being there than not.”

But since agreeing not to see Brooks, Vicki’s infamous love tank has been running on empty. That’s why she decided to make a change.

“I’ve got different pockets in my life,” she told Life & Style. “I’ve got my daughter and Brooks. He’s got his own place. So I go to his house, and we’ll watch a movie, or we go out. I’m not forcing Briana to spend time with him.”

But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her guard up. All of the rumors of him being a “deadbeat dad” and some of the other observations her family has made being around him haven’t fallen on deaf ears.

“I told Brooks, ‘You ever lie to me, you’re done. You cheat on me, you’re done.’ I’m not an idiot, and I’ve got my feelers out,” she said.
