Marisa Zanuck is the latest among several of the cast members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills who will not be returning for season 4. After Adrienne Maloof, Camille Grammer and Faye Resnick claimed that the decision to leave the show was their own, Marisa is quite open about why she won’t be back.

“I wasn’t asked back,” Marisa told Celebuzz. “It’s as simple as that and I’m okay with it.”

Unlike other housewives in the past who have tried to publicly spin that their departure was their own decision and not that of the network, Marisa not only admits to it being Bravo’s decision, but is also at peace with it.

Housewives was a once in a lifetime experience and I am grateful that Bravo gave me the opportunity to step into their crazy world,” she said. “Let’s be honest, nobody is going to quit the show unless they have a spin-off because they either need the money or have a business to promote. If a housewife doesn’t fall into those two categories, then perhaps she was attracted to the show by the lure of fame and in that case won’t be giving it up any time soon.”

Marisa, who spent most of the season without straying in neutral middle-ground territory between Team Brandi and Team Adrienne, probably stirred the pot more off camera. Before the season aired, she called her co-stars “fake” and “insecure.” There was also some real estate drama involving Kyle Richards’ husband, Mauricio, in which she claimed that the scenes with her involving him in the sale of her father-in-law’s home were completely staged for the show. In fact, she wasn’t even invited to the reunion show.

“Reality television is not for everyone and requires a thick skin; you go from obscurity to opening yourself up to millions of people and have to face the scrutiny and criticism,” she said. “I have learned that it is pointless to judge others for the decisions they make because it has nothing to do with me.”

Producers are still looking for another full-time housewife, though it has been rumored they want actress Lisa Rinna to join the cast. Rod Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, is also said to be in the running.
