Following its mid-season hiatus, the ABC drama Quantico will switch to a new day of the week when it returns in January. Currently airing on Sundays at 10/9c, the series will move to Mondays at the same time, according to a tweet from the Quantico writers’ room. After an intense mid-season finale, Priyanka Chopra and showrunner Josh Safran recently teased how the series will shift gears in the rest of season 2. Find out all the details below.

Quantico Winter Finale Recap: Can Alex Still Trust Ryan?>>>

The intense mid-season finale for Quantico revealed Ryan (played by Jake McLaughlin) to be a member of the Citizens’ Liberation Front and putting Alex (Priyanka Chopra) behind bars. While it seemed pretty clear, showrunner Josh Safran and actress Priyanka Chopra explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Ryan’s situation isn’t as cut-and-dry as it appears to be.

“That was a big shocker,” Chopra said. “None of us saw that twist coming. I think that takes her a while to also understand and she goes into figuring out why Ryan would do what he did. And the answers will be very interesting. It is a theme of the back half of the season.”

Additionally, Safran gave more details about the notable Nimah scene, which was actually originally cut for time, but added back after the results of the presidential election. Safran felt the scene was too important to cut, given our current political climate.

“Nimah spills the rhetoric that there is a civil war in this country and we can’t pretend it’s not here. Like there are civil wars all over the world, instead of pretending it doesn’t exist, it’s time that we fight. Moving forward, that is the underlying statement and purpose of the season.”

With the second half of the season moving in this different direction, Priyanka Chopra offered some insight into what fans can expect to see.

“The second half of the season is going to be a lot more streamlined,” Chopra said. “There will be the introduction of new characters and lots of old ones. It will be the same show but done differently. You won’t want to miss the last five minutes of each episode.”
