NBC has been suffering on the comedy side in recent years, and now the network has three new sitcom entries for the 2015-2016 TV season.
People Are Talking is a multi-camera sitcom starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, best known from Saved by the Bell and, more recently, Franklin and Bash. It also stars Meaghan Rath, Tone Bell and Bresha Webb. People Are Talking centers on two diverse couples who live next door to each other and who are best friends.
In addition, NBC has ordered the multi-camera family sitcom Crowded starring Patrick Warburton (Rules of Engagement), iCarly‘s Miranda Cosgrove and Carrie Preston, who won an Emmy for The Good Wife. The multi-generational comedy is about a couple whose two adult daughters move back home.
The third new sitcom for NBC next season is Superstore, a single-camera workplace comedy starring Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera and A to Z‘s Ben Feldman set at a giant megastore.
NBC Orders 3 New Dramas for 2015-2016 Season>>
The shows joins three new dramas NBC ordered earlier this month: Chicago Med, Heartbreaker and Blindspot. The network also has several other previously announced new shows for next season including Eva Longoria’s sitcom Telenovela.
NBC has shied away from multi-camera shows in recent years, opting instead for comedies like Bad Judge, Marry Me, A to Z and About a Boy. However, one of the network’s few sitcoms to get a second season recently has Undateable, another multi-cam show.
NBC will announce its full 2015-2016 lineup and schedule on Sunday, May 10 to kick off the Upfront presentations from the five major networks.
