Who wants to create a superhero? NBC poses this question to Heroes fans aspiring to come up with their own version of a hero character. For those who are not aware, the network has come up with a “Create Your Hero” campaign that gives fans the opportunity to generate a new hero that will be featured in a new series of live action webisodes next year, with the possible inclusion of the character into the show itself.
The interactive online promotion, which consists of two separate phases, gives fans the opportunity to share their vision of a superhero with other science fiction fans as they pick out their desired hero traits and contribute their ideas for the new character, which will evolve based on fans’ input.
The first phase, which started mid November, allows participants to assist in the creation of one male and one female hero by answering pre-selected questions about the hero’s characteristics and attributes. Each week, a new question is posted on the network’s website with a different set of attributes from which PC users cast their vote. In addition to computers, fans can also participate through cellular phones using an appropriately enabled Sprint mobile handset.
Additional information regarding the “Create Your Hero” campaign is posted on the NBC’s website where users can vote each week through December 17. Meanwhile, those who have failed to join this promotion can watch out for the second phase of the campaign, which will soon be updated on the network’s site.
“Create Your Hero” is just one of the many marketing efforts of the network to endorse its popular series, Heroes. Other endeavors include the Heroes World Tour, Heroes Evolutions, a digital extension of the series that explores the Heroes universe and provides clues to the show’s mythology, the Heroes web comic, and Heroes Unmasked, just to name a few.
