Katherine Mayfair first arrived in the fourth season of Desperate Housewives as a former resident of Wisteria Lane, who had left abruptly and without further explanation for over twelve years.  In the season finale of the ABC dramedy, her mysterious past was finally revealed, which involved her abusive husband Wayne and her adoption of a child as a substitute for their dead first daughter Dylan.

While a big chunk of mystery has finally been revealed, Katherine’s portrayer, Dana Delany, reveals that there’s something else in store for her character.

“There’s always more secrets,” Dana Delany told Digital Spy editor Neil Wilkes.  “How many more could there be, though?”

During the “five-year jump into the future” sneak peek, Katherine returns home from a game of poker with the girls and she receives a phone call from Dylan, who says she’s engaged. Katherine’s marital status with Adam, however, is unknown.

Looking further into the future, Delany hints on what she knows of her character.

“The only thing I know about my character is that after revealing so many secrets, she’ll be more relaxed!  I hope that she doesn’t lose her snarkiness, because that’s always fun to play.” Delany said.

Delany also reveals that her relationship with Bree (Marcia Cross) is most likely to change.

“I think we’ll be ‘frenemies’, as they say.  We’ll be friends but it could turn at any second,” she added.

Meanwhile, Katherine may now be part of the circle of housewives but that doesn’t mean she’s replacing Nicollette Sheridan, who plays Edie.

“She’ll be back,” she revealed.  “You can’t get rid of Edie.  You need that character, she serves a function on the street.  And I’d rather [Nicollette] play that than me – I don’t want to wear those tight dresses!”

Filming of the new season of Desperate Housewives starts July 7.
