There are only two more eliminations on Dancing with the Stars before finale week and the Freestyles, but which couple’s journey will end prematurely?

We’ve reached the point where anyone can go. Last week Andy Grammer was eliminated despite being tied for second on the leaderboard. So let’s look at who could be eliminated this week.

THE LEADERBOARD

33: Nick Carter
29: Carlos PenaVega
28: Bindi Irwin, Tamar Braxton
27: Alexa PenaVega
25: Alek Skarlatos

DEFINITELY SAFE

Nick got a perfect score and immunity, plus an emotional video package about his wife’s pregnancy. That should be more than enough to keep him around. And as always, Derek Hough should already be preparing for his Freestyle with Bindi Irwin.

IN JEOPARDY

That leaves four couples with something to worry about. Carlos had a good week, but his failure to win America’s vote in the Dance-Off despite getting all of the judges on his side could be problematic. His wife Alexa had yet another slip-up and is second-to-last on the leaderboard. The only good news for her is that Mark Ballas has NEVER finished in sixth or fifth place. If he makes it this far, he always makes it to the finale.

Tamar has received a fairly negative edit from the show, making her look spoiled and obnoxious. That’s a double-edged sword as it turns some people off of her, but it could rally her bloc of supporters to vote even harder. Then there’s Alek, who, out of the six remaining pairs, has received the lowest scores from the judges in each of the last four weeks. He’s clearly the worst one left, but being a hero could save him.

MY PREDICTION

I predict Tamar and Val will be eliminated. As a student of history and statistics, I remember the two seasons in a row when Val was eliminated in sixth place with other strong dancers like Elizabeth Berkley and Danica McKellar. This could be a similar situation. Heck, in season 18 Val finished sixth while the Top 5 featured Derek, Mark, Sharna and a member of Big Time Rush (James Maslow). That same thing could be happening all over again.
