Last season was memorable for Dancing with the Stars pro Louis Van Amstel. His partner Kelly Osbourne proved to be the season’s ultimate revelation, surprising the audience and judges with her grace and eventually finishing third.

Talking to TV Guide, the Dutch-born 36-year-old says he feels “so blessed” this season after being paired up with comedienne Niecy Nash.

“Oh, my God! We have so much chemistry on the dance floor! Kelly and I had chemistry, but Niecy and me — oh, my God! There’s a different fire and spark with us… I see the twinkle in her eyes, and sometimes she can’t believe she’s doing this — in a good way.”

Louis reveals that such energy manifests in rehearsals, when the Reno 911! star always comes “dressed the part.”

“Every day, a different outfit, but to the T — Latin shoes, fishnet tights. She’s not even competitive that much yet, but it’s more the appreciation and the respect of, ‘I have to give 100 percent,'” he says.

Like most Dancing with the Stars fans, he is thankful for the massive downsizing in the lineup this season, following the record 16 in season 9.

“It was by far the hardest work I’ve ever done in my life. The season didn’t seem to end. But I would do it again because the reward I got out of it — the relationship with Kelly — was so worth it.”

Niecy and Louis are one of the 11 couples that will take the DWTS dance floor on Monday, when season 10 festivities kick off with two dances, the cha-cha and the foxtrot. Louis says he initially thought his partner would do better at the cha-cha, but when he started showing her the steps, Niecy was very excited.
